✅ Official PHREEQC GUI status (USGS)

According to the USGS PHREEQC Version 3 Downloads page, the only graphical user interface offered by USGS is 32‑bit:

• PHREEQC Interactive (PhreeqcI) → only 32‑bit
• No 64‑bit GUI is available from USGS

On the download page, you will find:

• ✅ Graphical User Interfaces: Windows 32‑bit only
• ✅ Batch / command‑line versions: Windows 64‑bit available

✅ Why the GUI remains 32‑bit (and why that’s fine)

USGS keeps the GUI as 32‑bit because:

• PHREEQC calculations are light on CPU usage compared to groundwater flow models
• Memory limits of 32‑bit do not restrict typical geochemical problems
• 32‑bit GUIs work fully on 64‑bit Windows

Windows 10 and Windows 11 run 32‑bit apps natively without slowing down or needing emulation.

✅ PHREEQC Interactive works well on 64‑bit Windows
❌ It does not reduce calculation accuracy
❌ It does not mean the program is outdated or broken

After installing PHREEQC Interactive (phreeqci-*.msi), you will see:
