Turning the Room ON
An ADA-compliant podium is available at the front of each room. While standing at the podium as you are presenting, raise and lower the podium height using the buttons directly under the desktop surface on your right.
- Touch the Room Control Panel to wake the display.
- Touch anywhere in the white space designated “Press Here to Start” to turn the room ON. The panel will go to sleep, if it is black, touch the screen to wake it up.
Using the Room Control Panel:
Display Sources:
- Front of Room Display Source - Set the source for the screens behind presenter:
- 1a. In Room PC Main
- This is the default option. The main display from the room will display to students (duplicates main screen onto the screens behind presenter).
- 1b. In Room PC Extended
- The main screen from the room PC will extend onto the large screen (duplicates the extended display onto the screens behind presenter. This would work well as an extended display when the Confidence/Podium source is In Room PC Main (2a).
- 1c. Laptop
- Follow on-screen instructions to connect your laptop wirelessly to the Front of Room Displays.
- 1d. Image Mute
- No signal to the Front of Room Displays so a blank screen is shown to students.
2. Confidence/Podium Source - options for the Confidence display behind audience and what is shown on the podium touchscreen display:
- 2a. In Room PC Main T
- This is the default option. The main display from the room PC will display to presenter on the confidence display behind the audience and the podium touchscreen display.
- 2b. In Room PC Extended
- The main screen from the room PC will extend onto the podium display. This is mirrored onto the confidence display. This would work well as an extended display when the Front of Room Display source is In Room PC Main (1a).
- 2c. Laptop
- Follow on-screen instructions to connect your laptop wirelessly to the podium touchscreen display. This is mirrored onto the confidence display.
- 2d. Image Mute
- Podium display remains and confidence display is blank. This option takes a few moments to blank the confidence display
Changes made to touchpanel in 2024:
1. Display Controls
In rooms updated in 2024 and beyond, if there are more than one screen at the front of the room they can be controlled separately.
- 1a. Control the display to your left based on if you are looking at your students
- 1b. Control the display to your right based on if you are looking at your students
2. Reboot PC Button
In all updated rooms, we have added a dedicated button to restart the PC in the equipment cabinet. When you press the button it will power cycle the PC and the AV Equpment in the room
- In classrooms with displays only: The displays will turn off and turn back on.
- In classrooms with projectors: The projector will turn off, but will need to be powered back on manually.
Camera Presets:
Home
This default setting shows a wide view of the front of the classroom.
Podium
Close-up view of the podium.
Whiteboard
Close-up view of the whiteboard – best for remote attendees who need to see writing on whiteboard.
Wide
Wide view of the entire classroom.
Privacy
Mute the camera feed. The camera feed on any external recordings, meetings, and on the Room Control Panel will no longer be visible. In its place will be a blue screen indicating Privacy Mode. This will also mute the ceiling microphone.
Help Button
For help with any of the Classroom Technology, use the red Help button on the Room Control Panel and select the option that closest describes the issue you are experiencing within the room. If none of the options presented work, select the “Custom Request” button at the bottom and type a message to the Classroom Technology Team. Please pay attention to the touch panel after pressing the Help button because the Classroom Technology Team may reply to your issue on the touch panel.
Other Options to recieve help in the Classroom:
- Email help@utulsa.edu from any device – note if this is an URGENT classroom request in the subject line.
- Call 918-631-3500, Option 1 for immediate support needs during the hours of 7 AM – 5 PM Monday through Friday.
Room Sound Options:
Mute Voice Lift
White button means voice lift is muted. This means that the speaker’s voice will not be lifted through the inroom speakers to enhance audience hearing.
Volume Slider
Slide the Volume square back to turn down the audio output to in-room speakers
Mute Source
Mute audio feed to external recordings or meetings
The in-room mic array is located in the ceiling near the podium. The lights on the mic array (pictured below) will indicate three different stages.
Red = Mic OFF
Green = Mic ON, Uplift Muted
Blue = Mic ON, Uplift Active
Hovercam Document Camera
From the In Room PC Main display, select the HoverCam Flex11 icon on the desktop

Turning the Room OFF
Please ensure that the room is powered off properly when you are finished. If not, it will cause significant issues for other professors teaching in those same spaces.
